The NBMBAA-Twin Cities Chapter’s monthly programming consists of seminars, guest speakers, panel and open discussions. The chapter produces and distributes a quarterly newsletter and is actively involved in Leaders of Tomorrow. The Leaders of Tomorrow program is a national initiative tutors and mentors minority high school students preparing them for college.
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, many African American managers relocated or were recruited to the Twin Cities to enhance their career opportunities. While moving to Minnesota was good for career advancement, largely, they found themselves socially and professionally isolated when away from their offices. This shared experience led charter members to create a professional support system – a local chapter of NBMBAA. In partnership with General Mills, Pillsbury, First Bank [now US Bancorp], Norwest Bank, 3M and Honeywell, a Twin Cities chapter was born.

Event Details
Mental Health is essential to our overall health, and the importance of attending to mental health has become even more pronounced. It has even been said that mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act and helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices. The NBMBAA-TC invites you to a panel discussion on burnout and its impact on our emotional and mental health. In the current environment, you might be heading back into the workplace and having to navigate a new normal. You might be facing other stressors in your professional and personal life, thereby creating more exhaustion than usual. In this event, you will have the opportunity to engage with a panel who will bring their professional and personal expertise to discuss:
What is burnout and what does it look like
Ways and coping mechanisms to manage stress
How to support a team/team member dealing with stress and burnout
Mental wellness when returning to the workplace
